Restasis decreases inflammatory cells and increases mucin producing
goblet cells. It takes up to 6 months to work and is therefore not
good for quick relief of dry eye. It is a good choice for long term
chronic use since it is not a steroid and will not raise your
intraocular pressure. Therefore, restasis is useful in increasing tear
production that is suppressed due to ocular inflammation.
