[rosacea] Re: I think I found the answer to the question I asked a while ago

Hi Elena,

In his answers to the questions we sent to Dr Goldberg related to the
article, Dr. Goldberg mentions "We are always careful in people who
take photosensitizing drugs":

http://rosacea-research.org/wiki/index.php/Combining_Light-Based_Treatments_and_Topicals_for_Rosacea:_Dr._David_J._Goldberg%2C_MD

He doesn't mention that photosensitizing drugs would prevent use of
LED devices, but in my admittedly uneducated opinion, it would seem to
make sense that if you are on photosensitizing drugs, you might at
least start out cautiously with LED treatment, potentially with
shorter treatment durations and then gradually increasing these
durations to make sure that you prevent any potential harm.

I personally still go out in the sun while on doxy, but I'm careful to
either limit my exposure or wear sunscreen..

going to re-post it in another way........ask if anyone that is
currently using a RED LED device is also taking doxy and if they were
noticing any problems because of the light sensitivity aspects of
doxycycline or if they were just fine and not noticing anything.
Well, I was looking at some old posts and followed a link to the DPL
company. They are the ones with a LED device that looks amazingly
user-friendly. Anyway, I clicked "if you are taking a drug known to
cause light sensitivity" (or something like that) and sure enough,
there was a blurb there that said DO NOT USE THE LED DEVICE IF YOU ARE
TAKING A DRUG KNOWN TO CAUSE LIGHT SENSITIVITY. It also mentioned if
you have or think you have a thyroid condition. So, I don't know what
to think now and I just thought I'd put this out there. IF anyone
cares to look it's there and I don't

this in the article I read by Gagnon about Dr. Goldberg is it? So I
don't know if this warning is just the company covering themselves or
not. I have not seen this in any other literature and it sure did not
come with my instructions from the acnelamp company. Very confusing.
