hello:
I have a question about cosmetic damage I may have done by using
elocon and desonide respectively for about 6 weeks a piece. I was
prescribed elocon back in jan/2006 and used about 1 tube and a half.
I had no idea I was using a topical steroid, I simply though it was a
cream to sooth the skin. I stopped using the cream in mid feb only
because I felt it was non effective. After experimenting with various
moisturizers and topical medicatiions (bp, retin-a) I had a severe
allergic reaction to one of the products and was given desonide to
use to clear up my face rash. The derm said to continue to use the
cream twice a day and I did so for about 6 weeks. It has been 3
months since I've used any topical steroids on my face but I've
noticed changes in my appearance and possibly signs of steroid
induced rosacea. Is 5-6 weeks of usage considered "long term" and
could I have possibly done permanent damage to my face. I am really
concerned and all my PCP and derms have all shrugged it off,
basically saying not worry.
thanks
james
