Thank you for your reply. I agree that I think it is a good investment based on what other's have experienced using it. I believe that's the best gage of a treatment. What I have noticed is that the LED light treatment is the only one that I have never heard a negative on. That in itself is astounding! Especially with this disease. The only other treatments that seem to come close are the Z Cream, Rosacea Diet and Laser. But even with those treatments there are many who don't get better from them and even some who are harmed by laser treatment. Honestly, I really think that Light therapy is going to be a major player in Rosacea treatment. At least I hope so and I hope they tweak it fast because I really need some serious help here. Winter is just the worst for my skin and eyes and I'm about ready to jump off a bridge! And I am hating this permanant pinkness/redness and constant flushing. I guess I'll keep using the light for 15min. a day and see wh at happens.
Thanks,
Elena

Hi Elena,
I've only been using the red & infrared combo for a week and a half. I personally haven't seen a lot of improvement in that time, but I think its a good investment because its good for the skin and bloodvessels even if you can't see the immediate benefits (as long as it doesn't aggravate your rosacea more). I previously used an elixa handheld red light for a week or so, but I found my flushing increased and it wasn't always immediate because I would use it in the morning and find I would flush more in the evenings. If I'm going to flush, its usually in the late evening. Why that is, I don't know. I've tracked my body temperature to see if becomes elevated and it isn't, I've tested diffferent foods and nothing there, and so on. Anyway, I just found that the elixa red light was too hot and aggravated my skin even if I held it farther away. I'm super sensitive to even the slightest heat, and my acne lamp doesn't emit as much heat so I like it much better. I think the red
light is great, but the red light/infrared combo is even better for long term benefits to the skin...again, as long as its not aggravating your rosacea. I've read previous posts from people that used the red light for long periods of time and were doing well, but they weren't really certain if the treatment was helping or if their rosacea was just doing better for no reason. One in particular stopped using the light, and regretted it later because her rosacea came back full flare. Based on this, I would say that perhaps the LED treatment is gradually making improvements that enable us to better handle future flare ups (highly possible based on literature and all its possitive benefits). I think the Dr. Goldberg's assessment of how the different LED spectrums work is interesting. I think that the red as well as red/infrared combo should also help to reduce redness because if its decreasing inflammation abilities. Dilation of vessels causes inflammation, but inflammation
then feedsback to dilate more bloodvessels. So, if you decrease inflammation, you should hypothetically be able to decrease some of the dilation of vessels and eventually become less red. I'm certaintly no expert, and personally, while I love understanding and studying mechanisms, I think the proof is in how people with rosacea respond...I think that is a stronger case for giving it a try and seeing if it works for you. I think a lot of the reports with red/infrared are positive, and I'm hoping that the yellow light turns out to be even more effective for the redness since that's my biggest problem right now. I hate when I'm having a bad rosacea day and I come indoors to hear people telling me "wow, it must be cold outside because your face is red." I just smile, but we live in Arizona and it doesn't get that cold here so why they would make that assumption and out loud....I do not know:) I ended up writing quite a bit - eek:) Last thing I'll say and I think its an< br> important one is that I think you'll get more benefit from a treatment that has worked for others if you believe it is helping you even if the results are not immediate.
Take care:)

Subject: Re: [rosacea] has anyone used the yellow led yet?
I have not purchased the yellow LED yet either, but can I ask how your treatment is going with your RED LED? I've been using mine about a month now and I can't tell yet. I am actually a little worse right now but this is my worse time with Rosacea symptoms anyway. If I am going to have a bad flare it would be during the winter months so, this is a tough call. Everyone seems to get good results from the RED LED, so how long have you been using it and what's your experience been like?
Thanks,
Elena

I got all excited when I saw the yellow LED reduces redness, but I only just recently started using the red/infrared combo so I didn't want to purchase another one without determining if the one I have helps with redness. My skin is a noticeable pink...its really only become this way in the past couple of months. I'd like to make it less noticeable.. .unfortunately, topical cover-up just aggravates my skin. Has anyone used the yellow LED for a period of time and noticed decreased redness. Even if it was just for a couple of days, I would love to hear from you. Thanks:)
